Rhode Island native James Woods needs new representation, as he said he was let go by his now-former agent, Ken Kaplan, on Independence Day.

Woods, who is an outspoken Conservative, made the announcement on social media Wednesday.

The actor first shared a brief e-mail message from Kaplan, who said he was “feeling patriotic” and decided he no longer wanted to represent Woods.

In a follow-up tweet, Woods challenged Kaplan, saying if he really was feeling patriotic, he'd appreciate Woods' freedom of speech.

Still, it’s unclear what led up to Kaplan's decision.
