In the wake of the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, the special bond shared between them and their daughter, Romy, is coming to light.

Rob Reiner was a father to four children: Tracey Reiner, adopted during his first marriage to Penny Marshall, followed by Jake, Nick, and Romy with second wife Michele.

Romy was already following in the family footsteps as an actor, appearing in films like “You People” and shows like “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

And it’s clear from the 28-year-old’s social media that she shared a tight connection with her family, especially her famous actor/director father.

Just after Thanksgiving this year, Romy shared two separate posts showing her family on a beach vacation, swimming with her dad, and generally having a pleasant time. She wrote in the caption for one set of photos, “Thankful for family, health, and followers of any age.”

Romy also shared endearing conversations she had with her dad about life, filmed in black in white.

In one clip posted in May, they discussed “The 3 Rules of Getting Older,” which Rob learned from a Secret Service agent he met while filming “The American President” and incorporated into his later film, “The Bucket List.”

“Number one, never pass up a bathroom number two, don’t waste a hard-on. And three, never trust a fart. Those are the three things that you should think about when you’re older,” he said, adding he thought it was “good advice,” and that he had Jack Nicholson’s character say them in “The Bucket List.”

It's clear from the clip they Rob and Romy shared a similar sense of dead pan humor.

That humor showed through again in an earlier clip Romy shared of her cutting her dad’s hair and casually asking him for a Brazilian butt lift (aka a BBL).

With a straight face, she asked if he would help finance a BBL, saying people would take her “more seriously” with one.

“Really? You think that would make people take you more seriously? Or they’ll just say, ‘Boy, your ass is big,’” Rob replied, also with a straight and slightly stern face.

“I think both,” Romy responded. “They’ll say, ‘Wow, look at her craft. And all the work she’s done as an actor.’”

That made Rob quip, “‘Look at her crack.’ Her craft, and her crack... I would say don't do it, but you know, my feeling is, it's your ass.”

Romy is reportedly the person who discovered her father’s body at their home after a massage therapist contacted her alerting her that they were unable to get inside for a scheduled appointment.

According to The New York Times, Romy arrived and discovered her father’s body before she allegedly “fled” the house. The outlet reports the scene was so traumatic that Romy did not realize her mother, Michele, was also dead inside.

Her roommate called 911, while Romy called their close family friend, Billy Crystal. It wasn’t until paramedics arrived at the scene that Romy learned her mother had also been killed.

Romy made the horrifying discovery hours before her brother, Nick Reiner, was found by police and arrested near the University of Southern California campus around 9:15 p.m. that same evening. Authorities confirmed Nick was not at the family home when Romy arrived.

Nick faces two counts of first-degree murder. His lawyer, Alan Jackson, did not enter a plea for his client, and Nick’s arraignment has been postponed until January 7 at Jackson’s request.

Romy and her older brother Jake released a statement earlier this week addressing their parents’ tragic deaths.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” they shared in a statement to TMZ. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The statement continued, “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
