ASTORIA, Ore. (KATU) — The owners of the Oregon home made famous in the iconic film "The Goonies" have put the property up for sale.
The 1,935-square-foot home, which is located in Astoria’s Uppertown neighborhood, is being listed for $1.65 million.
Many fans of the 1985 film have ventured to the neighborhood to get a snapshot of the home.
Jordan Miller, of John L. Scott Real Estate, told The Daily Astorian he is hoping to list the house next week. He added since the sale will be exclusive and shown only to preapproved buyers, traffic in the neighborhood would be light.
The property’s star status has not always been welcomed, with the City of Astoria seeking steep fines for people who illegally park near the home. At one point in 2015, the homeowners covered the house in blue tarps to deter tourist visits.
Still, the beloved film is still an integral part of the city’s fabric. Each year on June 7, the city celebrates “Goonies Day.”
