SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — With only two weeks to go until Christmas, you might be scrambling for a last-minute gift or a stocking stuffer. To aid you in your treasure hunt, I’ve rounded up all Holiday Gift Guides that I’ve published since November.
This section of the gift guide focuses on the strange, imaginative world of fantasy and superheroes and a bit of tabletop game playing. A place where heroes and villains collide.
Princesses, witches, mice, and men, step right up. Welcome aboard the Walt Disney Express. We’ll show you the world and all its magical whatchamacallits.
The Folio Society has become a staple of my gift guides. They consistently release the most beautiful, illustrated editions of classic novels, plays, poetry collections, and comics. There is a sense of elegance and timelessness to everything they publish.
I prefer to keep the line between toys and collectibles blurred. Nevertheless, here’s a look at some gift ideas with a pre-teen audience in mind. We have books, dolls, movies, and tonies.
Once upon a time, the Movie section was the gift guide in its entirety, These days it has expanded to include individual sections that allow for a deeper dive into kids, comics, and fandoms like Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Disney. I've managed to find a new obsession or two over the years.
For me, 2023 was a year of escapism. Music proved to be something of a safe harbor when the sea became too rough to navigate. So, this year’s guide includes a nod to some of the artists who kept me reasonably sane, a few old familiars, as well as a few of the more interesting merchandise items that made their way into my email or distracted me as I made my way through curation of this year’s gift guides. It also features the coolest advent calendar that I’ve ever seen. If there’s a Beatle fan in your life, you’re definitely going to want to track one down.
Here’s a look at some of the new and classic collectibles. I’m particularly fond of the 13-foot Jack Skellington, the new limited-edition Jack and Sally dolls, Funko’s Snowman Jack and Carolers, the Zoetrope vinyl, the stuffed Santa Clause, the Oogie Boogie-themed Villainous game and the Lovepop wreath. Oh, and the Our Universe sweater. And the...actually, I’ll take one of everything.
A brief stroll into the world of television and streaming series. A bit old and new for the dedicated binge-watchers of the world who find the time and the focus to escape into some long-form storytelling. It’s mostly about the new, but nothing really gets old these days. The past and the present sit together in the vastness that is the streaming multiverse. A little laughter, a lot of drama, and some frights for everyone.
Here’s a look at some of the new and noteworthy Wizarding World collectibles. I’m a little obsessed with the Alex +Ani Chocolate Frog necklace (which pairs perfectly with the Noble Collection’s plush Chocolate Frog pillow), the Mattel Creations Voldemort and the LEGO Gringotts Wizarding Bank is absolutely epic.
