GoFundMe page set up to send nearly 100 DC students to see 'Black Panther'

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A GoFundMe page has been established to send 94 10th grade students from Capital City Public Charter School to see Marvel's blockbuster film "Black Panther."

The page has already raised $1,087 of a $1,500 goal to send students and six chaperones to see the highly-successful movie.

Students and chaperones are scheduled to view the film on March 7 at Regal Cinemas Majestic 20 in Silver Spring, Maryland. (For more information or to donate click here.)

Excitement for "Black Panther" has spread throughout the D.C. area since the film's release last week.

On Feb. 12, a "Black Panther" pop-up bar was set up over several days.The Wave, an event production business, transformed a black-owned bar on U Street NW and featured art, interactive set pieces, and special food and drinks.

The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture hosted a special pop-up screeningfor the movie on Feb.11. Free passes were given away by the museum but were gone in minutes.
