Former WWE star Matt Cappotelli dies after battle with cancer

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A former rising WWE star is dead after a battle with brain cancer, according to a CNN report.

Matt Cappotelli, 38, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, one year after having brain surgery.

A former college football player at Western Michigan University, Cappotelli won the wrestling reality competition show "WWE Tough Enough III" in 2003 and quickly rose the ranks in professional wrestling.

His brain cancer was first diagnosed in 2006.

It was treated successfully in 2007, but returned in 2017.
