ABERDEEN, Md. (WBFF) -- Former NBA player Ronald Glen "Big Baby" Davis was charged with possession of marijuana in early February after refusing to leave an Aberdeen hotel.

Police say officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn in Aberdeen at around 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 for a guest who refused to leave a room. Hotel management told the officers that the second floor of the hotel smelled of marijuana and they were able to pinpoint the room responsible for the odor.

Hotel management said they knocked on the door to evict the guests but a guest inside the room cursed the employee and refused to open the door. Management then gave officers permission to enter the room to evict the guests.

Police say once officers entered the room, it was empty but they observed “items in plain view consistent with drug use.” Police say two men later approached the officers regarding the room, one later identified as Ronald Glen Davis, 32, and gave the officers permission to search.

Officers found 126 grams of marijuana, packing materials, a ledger that contained language consistent with the sale of controlled dangerous substances, and a briefcase containing $92,164 dollars.

Davis was arrested and charged with possession and intent to distribute. He was taken to the Harford County Detention Center for processing. The second male was not arrested.

Davis, nicknamed Big Baby, has since retired from the NBA. He previously played for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Clippers.
