Former American Idol contestant accused of killing man while driving drunk in SC

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Former American Idol contestant and South Carolina native Caleb Kennedy, 17, was arrested and charged Tuesday with felony driving under the influence resulting in death.

Kennedy is accused of running off West Murph Road in Spartanburg County and into a private drive, striking a man with his car. The man died from the accident.

Kennedy came to fame in 2020 when he landed in the Top 5 of American Idol, but he quickly left after a Snapchat postsurfaced, showing him with someone that appeared to wear a Ku Klux Klan hood.
