Fans are still freaking out over Adele's return to social media, sporting a new look

WASHINGTON (SBG) -- In just one post, British singer Adele has set social media on fire for days (figuratively, of course).

In an Instagram post marking her 32nd birthday Wednesday morning, Adele thanked "first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives" during the coronavirus pandemic.

But, that's not what's got fans in a flutter. In the photo, Adele is grinning ear-to-ear, showing off her noticeably thinner figure.

The mother-of-one has always loved the skin she's in though. When she burst onto the scene in 2008, several critics had a lot to say about her full figure.

"I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines," the Grammy award-winnertold People. "I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."

Last year, Adele announced she and her husband, Simon Konecki, were splitting. The singer and Konecki were married for three years and share a seven-year-old son together, Angelo.

Many people have shown their support for Adele's transformation, but others haven't been so kind.

Some said the singer has lost too much weight or that there are far more "important" things going on than the topic of her body shape. But, put simply, if Adele's happy with herself, that's what the majority of fans are rooting for.
