HURON COUNTY, Mich. --A member of a mid-Michigan family who stars in a reality television show is facing some serious charges and accusations.
Brandon Putman is the second oldest son in the TLC show, "Meet the Putmans."
TheBureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives raided the family's home in Pigeon Thursday afternoon.
Putman appeared before a federal magistrate Thursday afternoon also.
In the criminal complaint filed in US District Court in Bay City, Brandon Putman faces charges of possession of an unregistered firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, and illegal possession of a machine gun.
According to court documents, Putman brought a part to an Elkton machinery shop and asked the owner if he could make 10 copies.
The part resembled a piece needed to convert a semi-automatic AR rifle to a fully automatic one.
The ATF confirms to NBC25 that they were back at the family's home in Pigeon Thursday morning.
However, they would not say what they were looking for.
A Putman family member we spoke to today would not comment on Thursday's raid.
You may remember the family from a story we did on them last year.
They are a family of 26 people, three generations all living under one roof.
All lead by the family patriarch, Bill Putman.
Bill Putman is not facing any charges.
His son, Brandon Putman, was released after posting a $10,000 bond Thursday afternoon.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
We have reached out to TLC for a comment.
So far, no one has gotten back to us about the show's future.
