Famed director calls for a female Oscar named 'Anna'

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Should Oscars be called Annas?

Italian film director, Lina Wertmüller, announced her support for a female Oscar at the Governors Awards Sunday night.

The 91-year-old received an honorary Oscar and used the platform to propose the idea for an Oscar with a feminine name like 'Anna.'

She even started a chant, "We want Anna, a female Oscar!"

Wertmüller then dedicated her “Anna” to her daughter and husband.
