Every single female Oscars nominee stood up during Frances McDormand's acceptance speech

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Frances McDormand won an Oscar as best actress from her role in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" but her speech is the real headline to come out of McDormand's win.

As she was accepting her award, McDormand placed her Oscar on the ground and asked every single female nominee to stand up and be recognized. McDormand also asked every movie director or executive in attendance to finance more films starring women.

"Look around everybody, look around ladies and gentleman," McDormand said. "We all have stories to tell and projects we need financed. Don't talk to us about it at the parties tonight. Invite us into your office in a couple of days or you can come to ours - whichever suits you best."

After McDormand's speech, host Jimmy Kimmel said, "I really hope Frances McDormand gets an Emmy for the speech she gave at the Oscars."

McDormand's speech comes in the midst of the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements which were both underlying themes discussed throughout the show.
