Eric Dane is using his acting talents to continue to raise awareness and support for ALS.

The actor is starring in an upcoming episode of the NBC series “Brilliant Minds.”

“Brilliant Minds” stars Zachary Quinto as Dr. Woliver Wolf, based on the late neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks, who published case studies on patients with Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy.

Dane will play "a heroic firefighter who struggles to share his ALS diagnosis with his family,” according to a description from the network.

His episode will air on November 24.

The 52-year-old became a breakout star on a different medical drama, you might have heard of, “Grey’s Anatomy.” He played Dr. Mark Sloan, aka “McSteamy,” on the ABC series for 139 episodes.

Dane first shared his ALS diagnosis in April of this year. ALS, short for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a degenerative neurological disorder that slowly causes paralysis as it destroys nerve cells that control muscle movement.

The “Euphoria” star revealed he’s already lost the use of his right arm, and is experiencing symptoms in his left arm as well.

Since his diagnosis, Dane has been using his time to advocate for ALS patients. Earlier this month, he attended a meeting on Capitol Hill with I AM ALS to push for the reauthorization of the ACT for ALS law, which expands access to treatments and supports the development of new therapies for ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases.

“I have two daughters at home,” he said in the meeting. “I want to see them, you know, graduate college, and get married and maybe have grandkids. You know, I want to be there for all that. So I’m going to fight to the last breath on this one.”

The 52-year-old shares daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, with wife Rebecca Gayheart.

Gayheart opened up to us on the how difficult Dane’s diagnosis has been for the family.

“It’s a journey, and there’s no real road map for us to follow, so we’re facing things as they happen,” she told us at the Step Up 2025 Inspiration Awards.

She continued, “We’re trying to do it all with as much dignity and grace as possible and as much love as possible. It’s a really tough situation.”
