Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres wants to meet Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke after a video of his take on NFL players kneeling during the national anthem went viral.

The video, shared by NowThis News on Twitter, has over 12 million views.

In Texas, O'Rourke is challenging Republican Senator Ted Cruz in the midterm election this November.

When asked if he thought the protests by players were disrespectful to the nation and veterans, O'Rourke responded, in part "I can think of nothing more American."

DeGeneres re-tweeted the video on Wednesday afternoon, writing "I would like to meet you, @BetoORourke."

DeGeneres often has people in viral videos as guests on her daytime talk show, but as of now, there's no word on whether O'Rourke will join her.
