MIAMI, FL. (WACH) – A Denmark, S.C. woman got a surprise of a lifetime that will go a long way in her education.

Destiny James is a student at the University of Miami and recently was awarded a $50,000 scholarship from rap artist Drake.

Drake visited the university after surprising students at Miami Senior High when he filmed a music video and donated $25,000 to the school.

This news came from Twitter handle @mentnelson.

The State reports James is a public health major and that she was told by the school that she would be recording a message for donors.

James' appointment with the school was scheduled at the same time as Drake's video shoot and as much as she wanted to go - she didn't want to skip her commitment with the school.

James had applied and received multiple scholarships which is why the school asked her to record a message.

As it turns out, the message for donors wasn't real and she was actually there to be a part of the Drake video shoot. Billboard reports Drake was the real surprise in store for James. He appeared and gave her the $50,000 gift.
