AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) — The Austin Film Society and Focus Features celebrated the30th anniversary of "Dazed and Confused" on Saturday evening.
The film was directed by AFS Founder and Artistic Director Richard Linklater, and the event was held at the Paramount Theatre.
"Someone who doesn't know anything about this movie or when it came out might watch it and think that it was actually made in 1976," actorMark Vandermeulen said. "I think that's a testament to how authentic the film really is."
With a large portion of the film being filmed in Austin, the actors were able to reflect on their experience shooting the film and reminisce on the places they visited during the production process.
"It's bringing together all of the elements of filmmaking in that era," actress and model Heidi Van Horne said.
Among the other members former cast who attended the screening were Joey Lauren Adams, Christine Harnos, Anthony Rapp, Marissa Ribisi, Michelle Thomas,and Wiley Wiggins. The red carpet event was followed by a screening of the film.
"Be open to a really specific, alive, textured experience that might surprise you," Rapp said to anyone seeing the film for the first time.
