LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Chicago Bulls forward and former Arkansas hoops star Bobby Portis surprised his mom with a new home Sunday for Mother's Day.
His mother, Tina Edwards, thought she was going to the house in Maumelle for a meeting. But when she and her son stepped through the front door, he handed her a box with a ribbon on it. Inside the box was the key to the house.
Edwards then embraced her 6-foot-11 son and started crying.
The fully-furnished home is just north of Little Rock, where Portis was born.
Portis, 23, said he's wanted to do something like that for his mother since he was a kid. He wanted her to be totally surprised Sunday -- not even his three brothers knew what he had planned.
Portis just finished his third season with the Bulls. He was 22nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
