SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is encouraging Cardi B to try her hand at politics.
Sanders told TMZ in an interview on Tuesday,"Cardi B is deeply concerned about what's happening in the country. She knows what it's like to live in poverty and struggle, and it would be great for her to bring that experience to politics." This comes after a series of tweets from the rapper expressing interest in getting involved in government:
She says she needs to "go back to school and focus up" and she could be a part of Congress.
This isn't the first time the unlikely duo has teamed up. Back in August, Cardi and Sanders filmed a campaign video in Detroit to discuss minimum wage, student debt and immigration, among other things.
Cardi said in a July tweet, "This man been fighting for equal rights,HUMAN rights for such along time. Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign."
