LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Barry Manilow has been diagnosed with a bronchial infection after he was hospitalized Wednesday night in Las Vegas, right before the opening weekend of his residency at Westgate.
A statement posted to Manilow's verified Facebook page said he was rushed to the hospital, where he is under close supervision.An earlier version said he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Doctors expect to release him in a few days, and he should make a quick recovery, according to the post.
"I can't believe this is happening," Manilow said in the statement. "Our new show is ready, we're all ready, and we were all looking forward to tonight."
The singer/performer was scheduled to kick off his opening week of shows at Westgate Las Vegas Thursday night. The regular schedule is due to resume on June 21.

Westgate announced full refunds or ticket exchanges will be offered to ticket-holders. Those with tickets can also see the stage show "Soundtrack" over the weekend for free.
