(Sinclair Broadcast Group) — War is coming, and about a week earlier than you expected.
A Twitter exchange between “Avengers: Infinity War” star Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios Thursday revealed that the film will now hit theaters in the U.S. on April 27, moved up from its original May 4 release date.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the move was made so that the film will premiere around the world on the same date instead of opening in international markets a week before U.S. audiences can see it.
The move was just one of several scheduling shifts announced by Disney Thursday. The company’s new “Mulan” film is falling back from November 2018 to March 27, 2020, and a number of untitled Disney live action, Marvel, and Pixar projects were shuffled around on the calendar between now and December 2022.
Also, “Noelle,” starring Anna Kendrick as the daughter of Santa Claus, will now be released through Disney’s streaming service instead of in theaters.
As of right now, a few previously-announced Marvel films have not moved. “Antman & the Wasp” is set for July 6, 2018, “Captain Marvel” is coming March 8, 2019, and the fourth Avengers movie hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
