Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes about ex Maria Shriver taking 'half of my money'
Arnold Schwarzenegger made light of his divorce from Maria Shriver during a recent event.
While celebrating journalist Chris Wallace at his Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, Schwarzenegger made the joke about his high-profile split,
“The reason why I know he’s a fantastic journalist is because I know a lot about journalists,” Schwarzenegger said, per The New York Post. “I’ve been interviewed, you can imagine, in my lifetime, by thousands and thousands of journalists.”
Then he joked, “Not only that, I also was married to a journalist. The only difference between Chris and Maria is that Chris has never taken half of my money.”
Schwarzenegger and Shriver were married in 1986 and split in 2011, with the divorce finalized in 2021. They share four children, Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher. The “Terminator” star also has a son, Joseph Baena, with his former housekeeper, who he had an affair with during his marriage to Shriver.
Shriver came from her own famous pedigree though. Her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver was the sister of the late President John F. Kennedy, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and Senator Ted Kennedy.
The former couple’s son, Patrick Schwarzenegger recently married model Abby Champion in an intimate lakeside wedding in Idaho.
