WASHINGTON (SBG) - A young boy from the Gold Coast in Australia received an extraordinary gift from actor Tom Hanks.

The 8-year-old boy, named Corona De Vries, wrote to Tom Hanks for advice after children at school bullied him for his name.

"Corona-virus, they just kept on saying that," he said, shaking his head. "And I get really mad."

So, he penned a letter to the celebrity couple.

"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hanks," the letter started. "My name is Corona. I heard on the news your wife had caught the coronavirus. Are you OK?"

It wasn't long before a package arrived for De Vries, a typewriter. Which De Vries said made him feel "very special." Hanks attached a letter to gift.

"Dear Friend Corona, your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful," Hanks wrote.

The Oscar winner explained that he felt the typewriter would be a good fit for De Vries and encouraged him to write back.

Hanks has a collection of typewriters.De Vries's machine seems to have come from that collection.

Hanks signed the letter at the end in handwriting, "You have a friend in me."
