The son of slain actor and director Rob Reiner reportedly checked into a hotel in Santa Monica after allegedly stabbing his parents to death in their Los Angeles home.

Sources confirmed to KABC that Nick Reiner, 32, went to The Pierside hotel on Colorado Avenue either late Saturday or early Sunday morning. Police said Reiner did not resist when he was arrested near the University of Southern California.

Nick made his first appearance in court on Wednesday, facing two counts of first-degree murder. His lawyer, Alan Jackson, did not enter a plea for his client, and Nick’s arraignment has been postponed until Jan. 7 at Jackson’s request.

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner listed the cause of death for both Rob and his wife, Michele, as "multiple sharp force injuries," with the manner being "homicide."

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said the charges could lead to a life sentence in prison without parole or the death penalty. Reiner is currently being held on no bail, and no decision has been made on the death penalty.

A motive for the killings has not been released by authorities.

Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy, released a statement on Wednesday addressing their parents’ tragic deaths.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” they shared in a statement to TMZ. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave," the statement continued.

Romy is reportedly the person who discovered her father’s body at their home after a massage therapist contacted her alerting her that they were unable to get inside for a scheduled appointment.

According to The New York Times, Romy arrived and discovered her father’s body before she allegedly “fled” the house. The outlet reports the scene was so traumatic that Romy did not realize her mother, Michele, was also dead inside.
