A journey nears its end in D23 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' teaser

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Disney unveiled about a minute of new material from the final film in the Star Wars saga at its D23 Expo over the weekend, and the climactic footage is now available online for all who were not there to see it in Anaheim.

After recalling iconic moments from the previous eight films, the D23 sizzle reel reveals new characters, new locations, and Daisy Ridley’s Rey armed with a new double-sided lightsaber.

“The Force Awakens” director J.J Abrams returns to helm “Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker,” with Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, and Billy Dee Williams reprising their roles, as well as Carrie Fisher making a final appearance as Leia in footage shot before her death.

“The Rise of Skywalker” is set to hit theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
