WASHINGTON (TND) — One half of the '70s pop duo Hall & Oates is suing the other in a sealed lawsuit.
Daryl Hall, 77, filed the lawsuit against former music partner John Oates on Nov. 16 in Nashville, Tennessee, according to court records confirmed by Variety. The following day, an official temporary restraining order was issued beginning Nov. 30.
According to The New York Post, the documents are labeled as relating to a "contract/debt."
Last Year, Hall criticized Oates on Bill Maher's "Club Random" podcast by saying, "You think John Oates is my partner? ... He's my business partner. He's not my creative partner."
"John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers," he went on to say. "We are business partners. We made records called Hall & Oates together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s a really important thing for me."
The duo met in 1967 and released 18 studio albums since their debut album "Whole Oats" in 1972.
Popular songs include "Maneater," "Rich Girl" and "Out of Touch."
